The Jews went on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem to remember the Exodus out of slavery in Egypt to the promised land. In Luke 9, Jesus begins his final journey to Jerusalem to fulfil the new Exodus, where Jesus would rescue us from slavery to sin and death. On the way to Jerusalem Jesus teaches us what it means to follow him.
